I have a beef.
What is that Beef? Well First of all I'm sorry if I offend you with what I am about to say but hey, deal with it it's how I see things. This has to do with elections and in particular this upcoming one well today as it's 12:42 at the time of this writing.
Recently I did a poll of my friends and you know what? the NDP and the Conservatives (I'll use CP from now on) were tied. While I'm glad to see that people realize that The liberals need to go I find it intriguing that the only ones who voted CP were "Christian" and the main reason they voted this way was because they are pro-life and pro-traditional marriage.
I'll state it now so you don't get me wrong I am not against those positions I agree with them to an extent.
I'll continue with my former thought now. I do not understand how one can make a decision for or against a party based on those 2 issues. As I see our Nation it is a secular nation, while yes in the glory days it was essentially a "Christian" nation it is that no longer. If the nation is no longer a Christian nation(spiritual yes, Christian no) why should a political party be judged based on Christian morals.
My question is what happens when homosexual marriage becomes a reality? Will Christians continue to show hate towards this group of people or embrace them as Jesus would. By embrace I mean accepting them as people and not trying to change them because we may think they are wrong.
Which party will you vote for when abortion and homosexuality are non issues? well actually abortion is a non issue. it's already lawful. I'm not saying I accept it because I do not. I think it's a destruction of life. I think it's playing God. But that doesn't change the fact that the laws are not going to change, unless the entire nation becomes Christian, or at least 50% of it.
People have problem with homosexuals because it's a hot topic, it wasn't all that long ago when women and African-Canadian/Americans (dunno if that PC the term changes to much) were second class citizens and the hot topic between Christians.
What about hermaphroditic? What about people who undergo sex change operations (if someone was once a man and becomes a woman, marries a man does that make him gay)?
My point is in all this to ask you to think about politics and view the world outside those 2 issue when voting. Fully engage your mind don't just vote for the "Christian" party because they are "Christian" |
